The Sindh government has officially issued a notification setting the minimum monthly wage at Rs. 40,000. According to the notification, semi-skilled workers will now receive a minimum of Rs. 41,280 per month, while skilled workers are entitled to Rs. 48,910.
For highly skilled laborers, the minimum monthly wage has been fixed at Rs. 50,868.
Rafiq Qureshi, Secretary of the Minimum Wage Board, stated that the wage increase has been implemented under the Sindh Minimum Wages Act, 2015. He added that objections or suggestions regarding the new wage structure can be submitted to the board within 14 days.
The revised wage rates came into effect from July 1, 2025. Qureshi also noted that the proposed increase represents an 8.1% hike in wages, and that the minimum daily wage has been set at Rs. 192 per hour.
These wage rates will apply to all institutions, whether registered or unregistered.
Sindh Labour Minister Shahid Thahim emphasized that female workers will receive equal pay to their male counterparts. He also warned that any violations of the minimum wage policy will result in legal action. The government, he said, is committed to ensuring protection, dignity, and a better quality of life for laborers.
