Sweden Resumes Visa Services in Pakistan

In a welcome development for Pakistani travelers, the Swedish government has announced the reopening of its visa services in Islamabad, allowing Pakistani nationals to apply for short-term Schengen visas.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision follows the Bilateral Political Consultations held between the foreign ministries of Pakistan and Sweden in Stockholm on July 2, 2025.

Starting from July 7, citizens of Pakistan will once again be able to apply for Schengen visas to visit Sweden for up to 90 days, directly from within the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has welcomed the move, calling it a positive step that reflects the growing cooperation and strengthened ties between the two countries.

During the consultations in Stockholm, the Pakistani delegation was led by the Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe), while Sweden was represented by the Director General for Global Affairs from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The reopening of visa services is expected to ease travel and boost people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Sweden after a period of suspension.
