iPhones Will No Longer Let You Get Naked on Video Calls

Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 update introduces a range of new features, from its visually refreshed Liquid Glass design to major upgrades in Messages, Wallet, and CarPlay. However, one unexpected feature discovered in the iOS 26 beta is that FaceTime will automatically freeze calls if someone is naked.

Initially announced as part of Apple’s new family safety tools for child accounts, the updated Communication Safety feature was designed to prevent the exposure of explicit content during FaceTime calls. According to Apple, the system would intervene when nudity is detected, blur such images in shared albums, and restrict explicit media sent to minors.

But according to a report by iDeviceHelp, the iOS 26 beta appears to apply this safety feature to all FaceTime users, not just children. In testing, when the system detects nudity during a call, it freezes both the video and audio feed and displays a warning. Users are then given two options: resume the call or end it.

Privacy Concerns

Apple says that all content analysis takes place on the user’s device using machine learning, ensuring that no data is sent to Apple’s servers. While this on-device approach is meant to preserve privacy, some users remain uneasy. Critics argue that applying this feature to adults could be seen as overreach and raises broader concerns about digital surveillance and censorship.

It’s still unclear whether this feature’s application to adult users is a bug or an intentional part of iOS 26’s broader rollout. Apple has not issued an official comment on the matter.
