Fitness Certificate Now Mandatory for Motorcycles After Cars

Following private vehicles, motorcycles in Punjab will now also require a fitness certificate. After undergoing a technical inspection, motorcycles will be issued a one-year fitness certificate.

The Punjab Cabinet has approved amendments to the law, paving the way for this new requirement. The Transport Department is now devising a strategy to ensure the smooth implementation of the policy shortly.

Meanwhile, a crackdown continues against public transport vehicles using LPG in the province. Special squads have been formed to carry out inspections and take action at all major bus terminals.

Regional Transport Authority (RTA) secretaries have also launched operations targeting vehicles equipped with illegal LPG cylinders. In addition, crackdowns are ongoing against workshops involved in manufacturing unauthorized rickshaw bodies.
