Punjab Announces Board Exams for Another Class

The Punjab government has decided to reinstate board examinations for eighth-grade students across the province.

According to a private news channel, this announcement was made by Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat during a meeting of the PECTA (Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority) Board of Governors.

The minister stated that PECTA will administer the Grade 8 exams, and an action plan must be finalized within 30 days. In addition, the education minister directed that internal assessment tests be implemented for students of classes five to seven, with a transparent system to evaluate both students and teachers.

He instructed that the procedure for these assessments be developed within a month. Rana Sikandar also shared that the government is considering converting textbooks of Grades 9 and 11 (Matric Tech) into video formats, aiming to improve accessibility through digital learning.

The Academic Committee for Online Tech Education has been tasked with ensuring the quality of these videos.

The minister further ordered timely arrangements for the printing and delivery of textbooks for the upcoming academic year, warning that delays would not be tolerated. He also emphasized the importance of reducing dropout rates in middle school and enhancing teacher training based on past performance.
