The schedule for cricket’s much-anticipated return to the Olympic Games has been released, with matches set to take place from July 12 to July 29, 2028, in Los Angeles. This marks the sport’s first Olympic appearance in 128 years.
Cricket will begin a couple of days before the official opening of the LA 2028 Olympics, which run from July 14 to July 30.
The competition will be split into two phases: the first phase will run from July 12 to 18, culminating in the first set of medal matches on July 19. The second phase resumes from July 22 to 28, with the final medal match scheduled for July 29, just a day before the closing ceremony of the Games.
While the overall order of Olympic events has yet to be finalized by the LA28 organizers, cricket is among several sports starting ahead of the official opening. All cricket matches will be played at a temporary venue in Pomona, about 50 kilometers from downtown Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to hold its annual conference in Singapore from July 17 to 20, where the qualification process for Olympic cricket will be determined. Current proposals include selecting teams based on ICC rankings or through a dedicated qualifying tournament, which could open the door for associate nations to participate.
Cricket’s return to the Olympics will feature both men’s and women’s T20 tournaments, each with six teams and 15-player squads. The event is expected to bring a modern twist to the sport’s Olympic legacy, last seen in Paris in 1900.

2 things are for sure.
1. Won’t be watching such a time waste
2. Pakistan won’t win gold
