A recent Gallup Pakistan survey has found that 50% of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents believe Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is performing better than KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
“Only 38% believe CM Ali Amin Gandapur is performing better than his predecessors. Nearly 47% favor Imran Khan replacing him as Chief Minister,” it further revealed.
The survey, based on 3,000 face-to-face interviews conducted between February and March 2025, points to growing frustration over governance, economic conditions, and service delivery in KP.
Key concerns include poor healthcare access (63%), lack of gas supply (66%), and unreliable electricity (49%). The youth face a lack of public spaces, with 77% reporting no parks, 81% no libraries, and 70% without community centres.
Only 43% noted any road development post-election, while 37% saw improvements in transport. Among PTI voters, 49% felt no major development had occurred, and over half suspected corruption in development spending.
On accountability, 71% — including 62% of PTI voters — support inquiries into large-scale projects. Meanwhile, 59% blame the government for unemployment, and 73% believe jobs are given through personal connections.
While 58% are satisfied with security, 57% still fear terrorism. Trust in courts is low, but 84% back the Jirga system. The Sehat Card scheme received 83% approval.
A large majority support cooperation with the federal government and stricter controls on social media and Afghan refugee repatriation.
