UET Lahore Approves Multiple New Academic Programs

The 237th meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Syed Shahid Munir, during which several new academic programs were approved and key reforms in the admission policies for the year 2026 were also recommended.

The meeting was attended by the deans of all faculties, the registrar, and academic and administrative heads of all departments.

Dr. Munir expressed satisfaction over the addition of these new programs and appreciated the support of the Academic Council members. He emphasized that these initiatives are essential to harmonize the university’s curriculum with contemporary industrial needs and global academic developments. “These programs will equip students with specialized knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to better navigate emerging career opportunities,” he said.

New programs

Among the major approvals, BSc Software Engineering was approved based on recommendations from the Board of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, BSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management was introduced on the recommendation of the Board of Faculty of Civil Engineering, BSc Industrial Chemistry was approved as per the recommendation of the Board of Faculty of Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Islamic Studies, BSc Remote Sensing and GIS was sanctioned following recommendations by the Board of Faculty of Earth Sciences and Engineering.

The council also approved the establishment of a Center of Excellence, which will offer short-term courses of six-month duration at UET Lahore, designed to provide practical and industry-relevant training.

Additionally, the council also passed several amendments to university policies, including revisions in fee refund, merit criteria, admission policy for international students, and scholarship schemes.
