Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Tuesday inaugurated the Sindh Police Driving School at the Police Training School Saeedabad, calling it a major step toward safer roads and improved law enforcement standards.
Lanjar was welcomed with a guard of honour before being briefed by the Additional IG Training on the driving school’s goals and long-term impact. In his address, Lanjar termed the initiative a “gift for the citizens of Sindh,” stating that only professionally trained drivers would be allowed to operate police and other official vehicles moving forward.
He stressed that the school would promote a culture of lawful driving, reduce negligence, and enhance public safety. He also called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to improve traffic regulation and management, especially after recent amendments that have tightened enforcement for government officials.
IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon said the driving school would help prevent accidents and shared plans to expand the initiative through public-private partnerships. He also noted efforts to make the driving license branch more transparent and efficient.
Memon highlighted the use of body-worn cameras to ensure accountability and confirmed that he would recommend finalising traffic law amendments soon.
He also reiterated the Sindh Police’s commitment to completing the Safe City Project to strengthen traffic and urban security systems.
