Pakistani Airlines Can Now Fly to UK

The United Kingdom has officially lifted its ban on Pakistani airlines.

The British High Commission in Islamabad announced that Pakistan has been removed from the UK’s Air Safety List after significant improvements by Pakistan’s aviation authorities.

The British High Commission emphasized that this decision follows years of technical collaboration between the UK’s Air Safety Committee and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. The UK’s Air Safety Committee determined that Pakistan had met the required international safety standards through an independent, technically driven review process.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE expressed her appreciation for the joint efforts, stating,

While it will take time for flights to resume, once the logistics are in place, I look forward to using a Pakistani carrier when visiting family and friends.

This move is expected to benefit over 1.6 million people of Pakistani heritage living in the UK, as well as thousands of British nationals in Pakistan, by making travel and family reunification easier. It may also support increased bilateral trade, with the UK currently Pakistan’s third-largest trading partner and annual trade valued at £4.7 billion.
