Punjab Stops Receiving Applications for ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ Scheme

The Punjab government has officially paused the acceptance of new applications under the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” initiative. The focus has now shifted to the scrutiny phase of the already submitted applications.

So far, a total of 481,000 applications have been received through the portal. After verification and screening, 2,000 plots will be allotted free of cost across 19 districts of the province.

Out of all the submissions, over 367,000 applications have successfully cleared the initial screening criteria.

Punjab Minister for Housing, Bilal Yasin, stated that in order to ensure transparency and fairness, scrutiny committees have been formed in all 19 participating districts. These committees, led by the respective Deputy Commissioners, are expected to complete and submit their reports within one month.

Under this scheme, eligible families receiving free plots will also be offered interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million to help them build homes on the allotted land.
