The Meteorological Department has issued a new alert regarding expected rainfall and possible flooding.
Starting July 21, heavy rains are likely to hit the northern regions of the country. Authorities have warned that water levels in the eastern rivers may rise from July 21 onward.
Between July 18 and July 24, intense downpours are forecast for the catchment areas of the eastern rivers. The latest weather system could impact these rivers, according to the Meteorological Department.
Officials have also stated that forecasts and updates about rainfall and potential flooding are being provided daily.
The recent monsoon rains have already caused significant disruption nationwide, with twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi experiencing urban flooding. WASA teams remain on high alert, working to manage drainage and monitor rising water levels in Nullah Lai and other low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, Karachi is preparing for its third spell of monsoon showers, with the Meteorological Department predicting light to moderate rain, cloudy skies, and high humidity for the city. Other regions, including Kashmir, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are also expected to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms in the coming days.
