Pakistan Post Will Now Bring Your Electricity Bill

Pakistan Post and the country’s electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) have agreed, in principle, to transfer the task of printing and distributing electricity bills nationwide to Pakistan Post.

According to a senior official from Pakistan Post, directives have been issued to all Postmaster Generals to coordinate with the respective DISCOs in their areas and develop a distribution plan for the first phase by July 25.

The decision was made during a meeting held on July 17. It was agreed that the initiative would begin as a pilot project, and if successful, the full responsibility for bill printing and delivery would be transitioned to Pakistan Post over six months.

In the initial phase, postal staff—assisted by DISCO employees—will deliver bills in one electric subdivision per postal circle. This trial will help identify any flaws, inefficiencies, or system gaps that need to be addressed before broader implementation.

The official added that both printing and distribution duties will be transferred gradually, allowing for a smoother transition and system refinement.

To ensure the timely and efficient delivery of bills to over 50 million residential, commercial, and agricultural consumers, a review of the available postal workforce and delivery routes (postal beats) will also be conducted as part of the process.
