The Punjab government has announced the rollout of a modern electric green bus service in the Sargodha division, aimed at providing affordable and environmentally friendly public transport.
According to Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Khalid Mahmood, the service will initially introduce 48 electric buses in Sargodha, 12 in Khushab, and six each in Mianwali and Bhakkar during the first phase.
The service is set to launch on August 14. To support vulnerable segments of society, the buses will offer free travel for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and students.
Officials say the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance public transport while promoting sustainable and cleaner mobility options across the region.
