Safe City Project in Gwadar Nears One-Third Completion

The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, emphasized the swift implementation of the Gwadar Safe City Project — a major security initiative valued at Rs4.96 billion and jointly funded by the federal and provincial governments under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

The project is designed to significantly improve public safety and strengthen law enforcement in Gwadar through:

  • CCTV cameras at critical locations.
  • Real-time monitoring systems to track incidents and criminal activities.
  • Enhanced capacity for crime detection and investigation.

Around 30% of the work has already been completed, with a target completion date of June 2026. Once operational, the project will enhance security for residents, businesses, and foreign nationals, supporting Gwadar’s growth as a secure, economically vibrant hub aligned with the objectives of CPEC.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring peace in sensitive areas and improving infrastructure to attract investment and tourism.
