Punjab Govt to Reward Rs. 100,000 If You Convert Your Petrol Bike to Electric

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday announced that motorcyclists who convert their petrol bikes into electric vehicles will receive a cash reward of Rs. 100,000 under the Punjab government’s Green Credit Program.

Green Credit Program

The Green Credit Program allows citizens to earn financial rewards in the form of green credits for efforts in reducing carbon emissions. Apart from converting petrol bikes into EVs, participants can also gain credits by planting trees and transitioning to LED lighting.

Urban Forests and Tree Plantation

Aurangzeb said the provincial government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is promoting tree plantation through the “Plant for Pakistan” initiative to increase Punjab’s green cover. She highlighted that:

  • Residents of Lahore can receive free saplings delivered to their homes by calling 1399.
  • 300,000 trees will be planted along Ring Road.
  • Australian-style tree monitoring technology will ensure each tree is mapped and tracked.

She added that encroached forest lands have been reclaimed and a technology-based fire control force will be introduced, supervised by the Bank of Punjab.

The minister emphasized that improving Lahore’s air quality is a top priority. She noted that seven air quality monitors have already been installed as part of the Punjab Air Quality System, and controlling smog remains a central focus of the government.

Aurangzeb urged citizens to participate in the greening efforts, stating:

It is the responsibility of every Lahori to plant more trees. The more we plant, the better our air quality index will become.

  • For them Punjab is limited to Lahore only. What about Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot and other cities? Greening just one city is not going to achieve a bigger goal which is improving the overall air quality of the province, fight pollution, reduce carbon emissions, and reduce average summer temperatures which is increasing rapidly.

  • As earlier I said this sort of helping or loaning can not help the poor and the suffering in the society unless these loans are made conditional to longtime installments not less than 10 years but unfortunately the banks are doing the business at the cost of the profit and least concerned with the poor or their issues or the poverty.Thus paying with in the priod of 1,2, years looks complete;y impossible but may be a good offer for the business community.So the facility and the banking managements need to review their loved policy and make it loved by the unheard.

  • Unbelievable, government earning much through petrol (levy and other taxes) then why they will offer. Government itself doesn’t want bring better Pakistan. They are doing businesses in electricity, petrol and may others. So be calm. Personally, I agree petrol bikes must be replaced with electric bikes.
