Over 4.8 Million Driving Licenses Issued in Punjab

The Punjab Traffic Police has issued more than 4.87 million driving licenses across the province over the past seven months, a spokesperson for Punjab Police revealed.

In the same period, officials issued over 7.3 million traffic challans for various violations, generating Rs. 4.52 billion in fines.

The department also cracked down on smoke-emitting vehicles in a bid to control environmental pollution. Over 250,000 such vehicles were fined, with 22,276 impounded and 214 fitness certificates cancelled.

The data highlights both the growing demand for driving licenses and the continued efforts to ensure road safety and environmental compliance across Punjab.

  • No issued, use the word sold without proper training drivers have no road sense and traffic accidents are increasing day by day.

    • Yup, just handed them to the motorcyclists on the spot to generate revenue. No awareness, nothing just for the sake of money.

  • Challaning should not be for the sake of money making. The purpose should be to create awareness and should be a continuous process. Motorcyclists who owns bike in their name and running on the road for more than 6 months, they should be issued driving license by skipping the learner process by special field licensing authorities.
