Over 56,000 Drivers Fined for One Traffic Violation in Islamabad

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have launched a strict crackdown against illegal parking across the federal capital, issuing fines to more than 56,000 motorists since the start of the year.

The action is being taken under the directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of efforts to keep traffic flowing and protect pedestrian rights.

Special teams have been deployed to monitor areas marked as ‘No Parking’ zones, including commercial hubs and busy roads. These teams are also ensuring footpaths remain clear for pedestrians.

Several vehicles found parked outside designated zones or on sidewalks have either been fined or impounded during the ongoing drive.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider has instructed all zonal DSPs to intensify enforcement efforts and take legal action where needed. He said strict implementation of parking rules is crucial to avoid traffic congestion.

“No one will be allowed to block walkways or park in restricted areas. Footpaths are for pedestrians, not for vehicles,” the CTO stated.

The ITP has appealed to the public to support their campaign by using only the approved parking areas and helping build a more organized traffic system in Islamabad.

  • Authorities are not paying attention to make parking spaces. They lack planning. One can’t take their car into the shop with them. They have to park somewhere. Everyone has an eye on the problem but what is the solution?

  • If the administration is serious about traffic congestion they should focus key points and provide a solution for the issue. And not to become a problem. Provide the parking facilities. Every nuke and corner is illegally rented out to vendors by the CDA. In the rest of the world people look a solution for problem and here in Pakistan we look for problem to mint money. If administration is serious they can resolve the issue easily. By increasing the fines amount they are actually more interested in taking bribe. For a fine of Rs 500, one would ask for cash receipt while paying 2000 he would go away without receipt by even paying 1000.

    • I completely agree with that. It’s not just one violation , the police should make sure that all traffic rules are being followed. The one that irritates me the most is the use of full beam at night regardless of on- coming traffic. This I think is not only a violation, it’s downright rude!

  • This is good to implement such traffic rules with zero tolerance but at the same time ample parking lots should created so that motorists are not unnecessary harassed or put in trouble.

  • I would like drae attention of concern authority to switch ON street lights or place more light poles on all main roads, I return to home country after three decades and face great difficulty to drive in nights as 95% of drivers keep their head lights on High beam which make the opposite side driver almost blind.cant understand why these things are not tought to people while they obtain drivers license from traffic dept. I am sure 95% of drivers don’t know traffic rules specifically for round abouts.
Kindly look in to these points and take corrective actions.
