Motorway Police Opens License Office in Major City

There’s good news for people seeking driving licenses, as the Motorway Police have officially launched a Driving License Authority in Quetta, making it easier for residents to obtain local as well as international driving licenses.

This new facility is the third of its kind established by the Motorway Police, following similar authorities in Islamabad and Sheikhupura.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Motorway Police Ashfaq Ahmed shared that the groundwork for the Quetta project began two years ago, with full operations starting last year. Since then, over 2,000 licenses have been issued from this center.

DIG Ashfaq Ahmed highlighted that the authority uses a comprehensive and modern testing system, allowing qualified applicants to receive their licenses on the same day they pass the test. The main goal of this initiative is to encourage safe driving practices and reduce accidents caused by untrained drivers.

He also noted that the Motorway Police Highway Force is active in Balochistan, covering routes from Quetta to Kalat and Uthal to Hub. However, with only 1,000 officers currently deployed in the province, there is a need for more personnel to manage the growing traffic. Plans are in place to increase staff for improved monitoring and traffic management on the highways.

This new authority is expected to greatly benefit the people of Balochistan and contribute to fostering a safer driving environment across the country.
