PDMA Issues Flood Alert as Heavy Rains Expected Across Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert as a new phase of monsoon rains is expected to start in Punjab from August 5. The PDMA has forecasted heavy rainfall across many districts, warning of possible moderate to severe flooding in the Chenab and Jhelum rivers.

Alerts have been sent to commissioners and deputy commissioners throughout the province, with expected downpours in areas including Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad.

The PDMA spokesperson also mentioned that rain is likely in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and Okara.

Additional districts such as Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur are also expected to experience rainfall.

Punjab’s Relief Commissioner, Nabeel Javed, has instructed all relevant officials and departments to stay vigilant. The Director General of PDMA has called on Civil Defense, Rescue, and other agencies to finalize their preparations, noting that the alert was issued in line with directives from the Chief Minister of Punjab.
