US Bans Diplomatic Staff From Visiting Luxury Hotels in Karachi

The United States has imposed temporary restrictions on its officials’ visits to luxury hotels in Karachi following a reported security threat, according to a statement from the State Department on Friday.

A security alert issued by the US Consulate General in Karachi indicated that they had received information about a potential threat targeting luxury hotels in the city. As a precaution, official US government personnel have been instructed to avoid these establishments for the time being.

The State Department explained that, in response to credible threats, it occasionally restricts access for its staff to certain locations abroad, including hotels, tourist sites, shopping centers, and restaurants.

The alert also advised individuals to steer clear of crowded areas, maintain a low profile, and remain vigilant, especially in places popular with tourists and Western nationals.

Currently, the State Department’s travel advisory for Pakistan urges US citizens to reconsider travel to the country, citing concerns over terrorism and the risk of armed conflict.
