The Environmental Protection Department has released an investigative report on the unusual incident of the seawater turning pink at the coastal area of Gadani Jetty in Balochistan.
According to Deputy Director of Environment Imran Saeed Kakar, the water had remained stagnant for a long time, which led to a natural microbiological change. This change is the main reason behind the pink coloration of the water.

Environmental experts say the primary cause of this phenomenon is the growth of halophilic bacteria and salt-tolerant microorganisms in the water. These not only alter the water’s color but may also pose a potential risk to human health.
