Update: After initially denying reports of an extension, the Punjab School Education Department has now officially extended summer vacations until August 31, 2025.
The Punjab School Education Department has officially denied a fake notification circulating online regarding an extension of summer vacations until August 31, 2025.
The forged notification, which surfaced on social media platforms, claimed that all public and private schools in Punjab would remain closed until the end of August due to severe weather conditions. However, the department has labeled the document as “FAKE” and urged the public not to believe or share unverified information.
The department clarified the situation by posting the false notification with a bold “FAKE” watermark on its official Facebook page, stating that no such decision has been made.
Meanwhile, confusion continues about the reopening date of schools. Although the summer break is nearing its end, a final decision on whether schools will reopen on August 15 has not yet been made.
According to a private news channel, citing departmental sources, a proposal is under consideration to extend the summer break until August 31 due to ongoing weather concerns. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that consultations are still underway and a decision will be announced soon.
Intermittent rainfall has offered some relief, but in the absence of rain, Punjab continues to experience extreme heat and humidity. The final decision on reopening schools will take these weather conditions into account.
