Punjab Sets Deadline for Water Treatment Plants in Remote Areas

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special session on Friday to review progress on clean drinking water initiatives, water filtration plants, and key development projects across the province.

During the meeting, officials presented updates on the Model Village Project, the Lahore Development Project, and the Punjab Development Project. Special focus was placed on the installation of water treatment plants in remote areas. The chief minister set a firm deadline of June 30, 2026, for their completion and stressed the need to establish a regular system for their construction, repair, and long-term maintenance. She emphasized that addressing citizens’ complaints over the lack of safe drinking water must remain a top priority.

Maryam Nawaz also reviewed road and street development work under the Lahore Development Project. Expressing dissatisfaction over delays in certain schemes, she directed authorities to ensure timely progress. Updates were also shared on 122 beautification projects underway in different divisions of Punjab, including 51 in Lahore, 64 in Rawalpindi, 37 in Faisalabad, 75 in Multan, 45 in Sargodha, 64 in Gujranwala, 51 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 61 in Bahawalpur, 53 in Gujrat, and 49 in Sahiwal. The chief minister instructed that all projects must be completed on schedule, stressing that quality standards should not be compromised.
