Alert Issued Over Possible Cloudburst in Several Areas of Punjab

Authorities have issued an alert over the possibility of a cloudburst in Upper Punjab, while several other districts face warnings for potential floods and landslides due to heavy rainfall, according PTV.

To manage the situation, special teams have been deployed at Smart Safe City centers across the province for continuous flood monitoring.

Virtual patrolling officers are working around the clock in districts including Murree and Rawalpindi to keep an eye on sensitive areas and high-risk zones. Artificial intelligence systems are being used to identify vulnerable locations and potential choke points, allowing authorities to take timely preventive measures.

In Rawalpindi, streams including Nullah Lai are under constant observation through Safe City cameras. More than 600 advanced surveillance cameras across Punjab are tracking flood conditions in real time. Alerts are being shared with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to ensure rapid response in case of emergencies.

Residents have been advised to stay indoors unless necessary, avoid rivers, streams, and electricity poles, and follow official instructions. The Safe City Authority confirmed that all available technology and resources are being utilized to protect citizens and respond to the potential threats posed by the severe weather.
