Murree Closes Schools Due to Heavy Rains

Authorities in Murree have announced the closure of schools for two days due to the heavy rainfall in the region. According to the CEO of the District Education Authority, all educational institutions in the area will remain closed on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 20.

The heavy downpour has caused rivers and canals in Murree to overflow, with water accumulating in areas such as Kahuta GPO Chowk and Mall Road. Additionally, landslides in Galiyat have forced the closure of the main highway connecting Murree and Abbottabad.

Officials have also warned of a potential cloudburst in the region. The local administration has issued alerts to both residents and tourists, urging them to exercise caution. The Deputy Commissioner of Murree has advised the public to avoid rivers and canals during this period, as heavy rainfall is expected to continue over the next 24 to 48 hours.

The situation remains critical, and citizens are encouraged to stay updated on weather alerts and follow safety guidelines issued by the authorities.
