The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been directed to expedite development in five sectors of Islamabad: C-14, C-15, C-16, E-12, and I-12. This decision was made during a meeting at CDA Headquarters, chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
During the session, approval was also granted for the groundbreaking of two major infrastructure projects—the T-Chowk Flyover and the Shaheen Chowk Underpass—scheduled to begin in the first week of September. Additionally, plans were made to establish ten new police stations throughout the city.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with board members and other officials, attended the meeting. The minister emphasized the need to complete ongoing work in sectors C-14, C-15, and I-12, where significant progress has already been achieved. He expressed optimism that, with focused efforts, these areas could be developed within a few months.
However, development in E-12 and C-16 is expected to take longer due to unresolved land issues. The minister instructed the CDA to address these disputes promptly and to resolve outstanding property cases in C-15 within 15 days to facilitate full-scale development.
Sector E-12, launched in 1989, was highlighted as an example of delayed progress, with many original allottees still awaiting possession of their plots. The minister called for urgent action to improve CDA’s track record in sector development.
The meeting also included a briefing on the proposed Faizabad Interchange, with instructions for the engineering team to present two alternative designs. Beautification projects for the Diplomatic Enclave and Daman-i-Koh were also discussed.
Attention was given to two CDA-owned plots in Sector F-5, earmarked for five-star hotel projects—one near the Pakistan National Council of Arts and the other close to the Marriott Hotel. After a previous auction failed to attract investors, the CDA has now been tasked with exploring public-private partnerships to develop these sites.
