The federal government has decided to begin construction on two major road projects in the capital next month. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters.
According to officials, the groundbreaking of the T Chowk Flyover and Shaheen Chowk Underpass will take place in the first week of September.
The CDA recently invited bids for the Rs. 1.4 billion T Chowk project, which will be built at the busy intersection of GT Road and Islamabad Expressway. The project is aimed at easing traffic flow for vehicles entering and leaving the capital.
Meanwhile, the Shaheen Chowk underpass, estimated to cost Rs. 1.3 billion, will address long-standing congestion at the junction of Ninth Avenue and Khayaban-i-Iqbal/Margalla Road.
The location is one of the city’s busiest stretches due to the presence of government offices and educational institutions. Under the plan, traffic on Khayaban-i-Iqbal will pass underground, while the top slab of the underpass will connect Ninth Avenue with the adjacent service road.

Good effort , my suggestion if the Rawalpindi district from murree to sadder chakri interchange up to motorway may be emerged into ICT areas then admintrativly it would be more effectively handled.Rawat Rawalpindi, DHA and Bahria town already included in Islamabad,CDA. Baharakoh and surrounding is part of ICT.Lahore administration cannot approach to district Rawalpindi in these areas whereas it is more accessible and feasible to Islamabad adminstration I C T.

Pakistan’s rural regions need govt attention for development of village life where villagers use soiled water-wells drinking water. Primary school buildings, rural macadamized link paths, rural marriage halls, should have govt focus. In visible instances both humans and animals live in the same animals yards in rural belts posing great health hazards.
Suggested almost ten years before!
