The Pakistani government has rolled out a new policy that bars citizens deported from other countries from travelling abroad for five years.
Sources in the Interior Ministry say this ban targets those sent back to Pakistan for criminal activity or other “undesirable” conduct. These individuals will be added to a special list, preventing them from getting a new passport or leaving the country during the ban period.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi officially announced the implementation of the new Passport Control List (PCL) Policy in a written statement to the Senate. According to the policy, anyone deported for illegal acts, criminal charges, or similar reasons will remain on the PCL for five years.
The ministry’s statement also mentioned that the travel ban could be extended beyond five years if a government department submits a formal request with proper justification.
These new passport rules, approved by the federal cabinet, are designed to keep a closer watch on people with a record of misconduct overseas. The government’s move reflects a tougher stance on managing citizens who have been sent back to Pakistan for legal or behavioral problems abroad.
