Punjab Wildlife Dept Contradicts Islamabad Wildlife Dept’s Claims of Lion Escape

Claims circulating on social media about a lion escaping from Lohi Bher Wildlife Park have been declared false, with officials confirming that no such incident occurred.

Posts suggesting that a lion had broken out of its enclosure sparked alarm among nearby residents. However, the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department dismissed the reports as “baseless and fabricated,” assuring the public that all animals, including the lion, remain safely confined.

In a statement, the department explained that strict safety protocols are in place at the lion’s enclosure, making an escape virtually impossible. It further cautioned that spreading unverified news not only creates unnecessary panic but also undermines public trust in state institutions.

Citizens and media outlets were urged to rely on official sources for accurate information and avoid sharing unconfirmed claims. The department also warned that individuals responsible for spreading false reports could face legal action under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.

The spokesperson emphasised that the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department is fully committed to ensuring public safety, animal welfare, and maintaining transparency in its operations.
