Over 5,000 New Infection Cases Reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 5,111 additional cases of various infections, according to the provincial Health Department. Since the recent floods, the total number of reported infection cases has climbed to 12,313, with respiratory illnesses accounting for 3,668 of these.

In the past 24 hours alone, 381 new cases of scabies have been identified, raising the overall count to 1,200. Eye infections in Peshawar have now affected 1,224 people, and seven cases of Leishmania have also been confirmed in areas impacted by the floods.

These rising health concerns come as severe floods and heavy rains have caused widespread destruction across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Over 200 people have lost their lives, with the Buner district in KP suffering the most fatalities.

The floods have destroyed homes, schools, and roads, while rescue operations continue. Emergency funds have been released and health alerts declared in several districts. During relief efforts, a government rescue helicopter crashed, resulting in the deaths of five crew members. Many people remain missing as authorities work tirelessly to search for survivors and provide aid to affected communities.
