Pakistan and Bangladesh Sign Visa-Free Travel Agreement for Diplomats and Officials

Pakistan and Bangladesh have signed a series of bilateral agreements, including a visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and official passports, aimed at deepening cooperation across multiple sectors.

The agreements, which cover trade, culture, education, diplomatic training, media, and academic exchanges, were finalized during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Bangladesh. Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated on Sunday that the new accords would “institutionalize and further strengthen bilateral collaboration” in various fields.

This development follows Pakistan’s recent agreement with the UAE in June for a similar visa exemption arrangement for diplomatic and official passports, which became effective on July 27, 2025.

During his visit, Ishaq Dar, accompanied by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, also attended a reception hosted by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider. The Deputy Prime Minister held meetings with a wide range of Bangladeshi personalities, including government advisers, political leaders, academics, think tank representatives, journalists, artists, sports figures, and retired officials.

Dar highlighted that Pakistan and Bangladesh share a relationship rooted in centuries-old cultural ties, Islamic heritage, social traditions, and literary bonds. He reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to building a cooperative and forward-looking partnership with Dhaka.
