The federal government has granted additional time for electricity bill payments to citizens living in flood-affected regions.
Federal Minister for Energy, Awais Leghari, announced that power supply in these areas would remain suspended until authorities were certain that it was safe for residents.
Highlighting the government’s recent measures, the minister said that Rs100 billion had already been refunded to consumers as compensation for last year’s overbilling. He assured that no such practice was taking place at present.
Leghari further noted that electricity tariffs had been lowered and claimed that the country’s power sector was now moving back on the right track.
