The Punjab Education Department has issued a notification mandating board-level examinations for 5th and 6th-grade students across the province. The exams will be administered by the Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA).
According to the circular, the decision follows a review of recent ninth and tenth-grade board exam results, which were found to be below expectations. Officials believe that introducing earlier exposure to board examinations will help improve students’ academic and cognitive preparation, ultimately leading to better outcomes in higher classes.
Heads of schools have been directed to begin preparations immediately. The Education Department has also asked each institution to submit an academic improvement plan to align with the new examination structure.
Teachers’ Union Criticizes the Move
The Punjab Teachers’ Union has expressed strong reservations, stating that previous attempts to conduct board exams at the fifth-grade level were unsuccessful. Union representatives argue that instead of introducing new policies without broad consultation, the department should focus on creating a long-term, unified strategy for educational assessment and instruction.
The new policy is expected to take effect in the current academic year, though it faces pushback from educators concerned about its implementation and impact on students.

This is my initial experience coming here, and I feel very happy to find all the information in a single place.
It is not the exposure of students to board exams it would only be the waste of time. Teachers and students would RUSH to finish the syllabus without emphasizing on the concepts of the subjects …Ratta will be done and without knowledge only on the bases of ratification numbers will be given. There is a big difference in learning and basic knowledge. I have teaching experience of 30 years but in govnt sector sorry to say education is not given only ratification of three four five pages is dobe without understanding and numbers are given on the same bases.Kindly take the exams of compulsory subjects of grade 9 and 10 th and next year the exam of elective subjects.Students would gave the ample time to concentrate on compulsory subjects and next year elective subjects would be cleared….It would improve the standard of education with clear concepts of each subject.
Kindly look into the matter.
Mrs Shahid
you are absolutely right but board exam is not pain for students it’s pain for teachers because teacher know she /he completely busy with students. no extra time for gap shup.
To improve education standards the testing system is better option.
Plz STFU GRANMA
😂😂
What the hell is wrong with these people ?
KIDS ARE NOT YOUR SLAVES. WHY ARE THE SPINELESS JOURNOS SILENT ON THIS ?
Kids should not be test subjects. The current system is fine . 5th 6th kids should not be subjected to such harsh exams.
This policy should not be allowed
Very good initiative. Now 5th and 6th grade students will feel the pain of 9th and 10th graders. I applause the government for this decision as this not only helps being prepared for board, but it also is a pain for students. 😂😂😂😂🤪🤪
For private schools.it is also coumpulsory.plz someone tell
Here we go again, now experimenting with children’s education. This country will never prosper with all the mindless sitting at the helm of affairs.
Government just want to grab money from kids shameful a tl
Ni hone chahye bachy choty hn wasy b ye log pagal ho gy hn just pasy pasy pasy ki game hy I am totally against this structure rata rata or rata hy bs hmra education system
Yes rata nai hona chahie but board exams objective base hony chahie ta k un mai confidence aye
Just another way of snatching money from people
It just does not make sense to have board exams for 10 and 11 year old children. That is putting too much pressure on them at such a young age. Absolutely not fair. They can introduce board exams for grade 8 and onwards. So in grade 8 they will get the feel of how to prepare and give a board exam. But it’s the teachers who need to guide them and make them do past papers so they can improve there grades. Also some papers can be given in grade 9 and the rest in grade ten. So then the burden will lesson and hopefully they should do better.
Yes it is somehow good…. But give short answer questions and Mcqs.. Fill in the blanks and true false concept only…. For grade 5 to 8 …In this way students will enjoy doing preparation and exams… As they are not in a research bace class like bs , ms or Phd….
Please don’t force students to write too much lengthy answers essays and all the over loading stuff as students need to know the actual concept only
When this policy applied teacher have to work hard, which they don’t want, Government should apply this for betterment student,.This policy must be applied never listen the teachers
It will not improve standards. It will turn into a place in society competition. The department will earn money though.
It’s great initiative. It’s better for students.
Government and Private sector pass student just to show their 100% Result or other case giving bad marks parents will change their school. So students reach at board classes and got exposed and it’s too late many couldn’t pass matric after 3-4 attempts
So it’s just a check for parents to check real performance of school at early stages.
chacha jan koi url bhi sath reference dia kro, kisi official website pe nhi nazar aya abhi tk.
Aoa, by observing Al the reasons upon which this decision is being taken, I would like to say that the education system is totally zero in our government schools, no proper teaching system, no teaching methodology, untrained and lasy teachers are teaching. I thick we should improve teaching method / quality of education. I experienced a lot and usually ask from government schools students, they say almost teachers hired by CARE organization, they are not good qualified alongwith experience. Our education system is totally collapsed. Therefore, we should not enter the students into new hurdles we may change / improve the education system by authority with complete scrutiny. Board exams in 6th and 5th class is only a wastage of time not to improve the education. We should get a good control on schools, and ask the students and check the teachers on daily basis so what students are gaining and how teachers are teaching, rightnow no system and Zoro education. Regards
I think so it is a good initiative to bring schools on one curriculum now govt teachers also know that they have to work hard to get the result from kids. I think so it should also apply on private sector too.
