Egg prices in Karachi continue to climb, leaving consumers frustrated as the city administration remains unresponsive.
According to the official rate list, eggs should be sold at Rs 285 per dozen; however, in most markets, they are being offered at Rs 300 to Rs 320 per dozen. The price hike has made a basic household item increasingly difficult to afford for many families.
Shoppers complain that the authorities have failed to enforce official prices and are ignoring public grievances. “The administration is not taking any action. Prices are out of control,” one resident said.
Retailers, however, argue that they are not to blame. Shopkeepers claim poultry farms are already charging them inflated rates, leaving little room to sell at government-set prices.
Frustrated citizens have urged Karachi’s administration to intervene immediately and stabilize prices, warning that even simple meals like breakfast are becoming unaffordable.
