Indians and Pakistanis Top UK List of Sex Crime Convictions

A new analysis by the Center for Migration Control (CMC) has highlighted a sharp rise in sexual-offense convictions involving foreign nationals in the United Kingdom, with Indian citizens topping the list in 2024.

According to the report, the number of Indian nationals convicted of such crimes grew by 257% in just three years. In 2021, there were 28 convictions of Indian citizens, but by 2024, this figure had climbed to 100, making them the single largest group among convicted foreigners.

Romanians and Poles ranked second and third with 92 and 83 convictions, respectively, while Pakistani nationals were fourth on the list with 56 cases recorded in 2024.

The top 10 list also included offenders from Afghanistan (43), Nigeria (40), Sudan (37), Bangladesh (34), Portugal (33), and Iran (30).

Overall, foreign nationals accounted for one in seven (14.1%) sexual-offense convictions in 2024, including cases of rape, according to Ministry of Justice (MoJ) data drawn from the Police National Computer.

The CMC report noted that the rise in convictions among foreigners was significantly higher than among British citizens. Between 2021 and 2024, sexual-offense convictions of foreign nationals grew far faster compared to the 39.3% increase among UK nationals.

A similar pattern was observed in other crimes: convictions for theft by foreign nationals rose by 77.9%, compared with 55.8% among British citizens. For robbery, convictions of foreigners increased by 18.9%, while the rise among British nationals was just 2.8%.

The findings come amid record-high net migration levels, which reached 906,000 in 2023, alongside a surge in Channel crossings. So far this year, nearly 28,000 migrants have arrived in the UK on small boats — the highest number recorded at this stage since crossings began in 2018.
