To enhance the efficiency and management of the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS), the PTA has offloaded old IMEI records of mobile devices. This step has been undertaken to streamline overall system performance.
The said activity will assist both PTA and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in improving DIRBS operations and ensuring more effective system management.
Additionally, this initiative would encourage users to register their mobile devices by paying the applicable FBR duties/taxes, thereby contributing to a compliant and sustainable digital environment.
Any mobile phone that is not registered will remain active on the network for 60 days only. In case of non-payment of applicable FBR customs duties/taxes within this period, the device will be re-blocked in accordance with DIRBS regulations.

cost to register mobile is very expensive. for example iphone 13 pro max , a phone introduced in 2021, tax is 1 lac 37 thousand. pta is fully controlled by forces . where is all the money going?

One of the most miserable system this entire registration process as a foriegn Pakistani i cant even register before arriving and entire process is cumbersome takes almost a week for temp registration and if i am there for a short week trip. I cant use my phone with my Pakistani Sim. Koi aqal day in logo ko. Kaash koi competent log is mulk ki policies banaye.

it means any previously blocked phone will again start working for 60 days
It means the IMEI records will temporarily be removed, and the mobiles registered and unregistered will work on all the networks until the records are uploaded again.

probably those phones are exempted. I think IMEI can also tell the year of production . So maybe they will start from certain year

PTA was established for good causes but now only money monkers who need money at all. Tax ratio is more than the worth of the device. The tax on 2 to 5 years old devices has not been revised. So pathetic for the users. If PTA reduces tax, citizens will be willing to pay tax instead of looking for other backdoor channels.
