The European Union (EU) has announced €1.05 million (Rs. 350 million) in emergency humanitarian assistance for Pakistan as the country grapples with devastating flash floods that have claimed hundreds of lives and displaced millions.
This support will be provided through trusted humanitarian partner organisations and will include:
- Life-saving health services
- Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) support to prevent the spread of disease
- Cash assistance to help the most vulnerable meet their basic needs
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims and all those affected by this disaster,” the statement read, underscoring the EU’s solidarity with Pakistan during this crisis.
The EU’s pledge follows recent commitments from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations, which announced $3 million and $0.6 million, respectively, to support flood-affected communities.
