Pakistan’s Largest Dam Reaches Maximum Water Storage Level

Tarbela Dam has reached its full storage capacity, leaving no room for additional inflows.

Recent heavy rainfall in the upper regions of Haripur has significantly increased water inflow, prompting authorities to open the dam’s spillways at 6 p.m. on Monday. Current discharge from the dam has risen to 250,000 cusecs, according to officials.

The Haripur district administration has issued strict safety advisories, urging residents to stay away from riverbanks and bridges to protect themselves and their families.

Deputy Commissioner Haripur emphasized that citizens must avoid approaching water channels, as the situation remains sensitive. He added that the district administration, along with rescue teams, is on high alert and fully equipped to respond to any emergency.

The dam administration has also appealed to locals to remain cautious and adopt all necessary precautionary measures.
