The first meeting of the Steering Committee on Inflation was held today, led by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The committee, formed last week by the Prime Minister, looked closely at the main causes of rising prices in Pakistan and around the world. Members also focused on how high food prices are affecting low-income families, especially those hit by recent floods.
To control prices, the committee decided to monitor essential items like wheat, rice, and sugar more closely and track crop conditions affected by floods. They also agreed to work with provincial governments and federal departments to take necessary action.
The Finance Minister asked the Ministry of National Food Security and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics to urgently check current food stocks and work with provinces to ensure enough supply. He also promised full support from the Finance Ministry to help poor families and flood-affected areas.
Officials were told to suggest strong measures to keep supplies running smoothly and control inflation. The meeting included senior officials from key ministries, the State Bank of Pakistan, and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute. A follow-up meeting will be held soon to move forward with actions.

And they all went home and did nothing . As usual .incompetent by nature
We are again in very difficult situation unfortunately. And people are equally involved. On ground inflation increases except in govt paper and govt can’t control people running markets as usual. Same like previous govt they played god with economic to sounds good ends up bringing more sufferings for common citizens.
