Karachi’s Major Railway Stations to be Managed With Modern Technology

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani on Thursday announced new measures to improve passenger facilities and modernise railway stations across the country, with a special focus on Karachi.

The ministers said Pakistan Railways and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) will now jointly manage cleanliness at Karachi Cantt and City stations.

Under the agreement, SSWMB teams will handle sanitation inside trains, stations, and surrounding areas with the help of modern technology.

Abbasi said that as Karachi is the country’s economic hub, Pakistan Railways is committed to upgrading its system in the city. He pointed out that new waiting halls at Cantt Station are being built with modern facilities to provide passengers with a more comfortable travel experience.

He noted that similar arrangements with solid waste firms in Punjab had already improved conditions at several stations, and the same model is now being applied in Karachi.

Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani welcomed the initiative, stressing that the provincial government is determined to ensure affordable and quality travel facilities for train passengers. He assured that the SSWMB would maintain high standards of cleanliness and said he would personally inspect both stations soon.
