Punjab Announces Flagship Women’s Sporting Event “Pink Games”

Punjab is gearing up for a landmark moment in its sporting history with the announcement of the Khelta Punjab Pink Games, billed as the province’s biggest‑ever women’s sporting event.

More than 3,000 female athletes from across Punjab’s divisions will take part in the competition, which is scheduled for the last week of October.

The decision was finalized during a meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar, alongside Sports Secretary Muzaffar Sial and Director General Sports Khizar Afzal Chaudhry. The session focused on logistics and preparations to ensure the event runs smoothly.

“This will be Punjab’s biggest women’s sports event. More than 3,000 women athletes will take part, representing all the divisions of Punjab,” said Minister Khokhar, adding that the Pink Games reflect the government’s commitment to promoting gender equality through sport.

Punjab has made steady strides in promoting women’s sports over the years through inter‑school and inter‑college tournaments, but the Pink Games are being billed as a historic breakthrough, especially with millions in prize money on offer.

Sports officials describe the event as not only a competition but also part of a broader plan by the Punjab Sports Board to expand facilities, address gender disparities, and provide athletes the opportunity to shine at provincial, national, and international levels.

The final list of disciplines is yet to be confirmed, but athletics, hockey, basketball, archery, tape‑ball cricket, badminton, and table tennis are once again expected to be on the list of games just like last time.

With preparations already underway, the Khelta Punjab Pink Games are poised to be a flagship event on the provincial sporting calendar, combining athletic excellence with a powerful message of inclusivity and empowerment.
