Proposed Schedule for South Africa’s Tour of Pakistan Unveiled

International cricket in Pakistan is set for another major boost as the Men in Green will officially host South Africa for a full series, with the tentative schedule of the upcoming tour now released.

The Proteas will play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is in October and November 2025, marking their first Test appearance on Pakistani soil in more than four years.

According to the proposed schedule, the two Tests are slated for October 12–16 and October 20–24, with the limited‑overs leg to follow from 28th of October. ODIs are scheduled for 28, 30 October and 2nd of November with T20Is taking place on 5, 8 and 9th of November.

Exact venues will be finalized in consultation with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Iqbal Cricket Stadium in Faisalabad, Multan Cricket Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore are in the running.

This will be South Africa’s second trip to Pakistan in 2025 after participating in the February tri‑nation series alongside New Zealand. However, the upcoming series carries far greater weight, particularly the Tests, given South Africa’s imposing record in the format.

The defending World Test Champions will open their title defense against Shan Masood’s side in their first assignment of the new cycle.

Pakistan will have to overcome history against South Africa if they are to make this Proteas tour memorable. South Africa have dominated this rivalry, winning 17 of the 30 Tests played against Pakistan. The hosts have managed only six victories, with seven games ending in a stalemate.

The ODI record tells a similar story. In 87 one‑dayers played between the two, South Africa have won 52, leaving Pakistan with just 34 victories. The T20Is, however, have been much closer with each side winning 12 contests apiece.

South Africa have been in formidable form since winning their first World Test Championship and will look to continue their run going during the October–November tour.

Beyond the numbers, the return of South Africa for a multi‑format series reinforces Pakistan’s place as a regular stop on the international calendar. For fans, it promises weeks of high‑quality cricket, and for the players, a chance to rewrite history against one of their toughest opponents.
