A young man in Karachi was kidnapped and assaulted after advertising his mobile phone on OLX, police confirmed. The incident occurred in the Azizabad area of District Central, where suspects posing as buyers lured the victim under the pretext of checking the phone.
The victim, identified as Saad Younis, told investigators that the suspects forced him into their car and attacked him. They beat him repeatedly and struck his head with a hammer, leaving him seriously injured. The attackers claimed they were taking him to the anti-corruption office, but instead fled with his iPhone.
Despite his injuries, Saad showed courage by jumping from the moving car near the Garibabad railway gate. He was initially treated at a private hospital before being transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police said a case has been registered at Azizabad police station on the complaint of the victim. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage and using technical support in an effort to track down the suspects.
The incident came to light alongside the release of CCTV footage of a separate cash van robbery at Kalima Chowk in Manghopir, underscoring continued security challenges in the city.
