Following approval from Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, the Ministry of Interior and provincial authorities have instructed local administrations to ensure security arrangements for retired judges, reported 24NewsHD on Monday.
According to the notification, the responsibility for safeguarding former judges will rest with the District Police Officer (DPO) of the respective area.

The guidelines also specify that in the event of a retired judge’s passing, their surviving spouse will continue to receive security protection, with a dedicated squad of three police personnel assigned for life.
This move follows the Supreme Court’s decision in August 2025 to introduce a new Transport Entitlement Policy for its judges, covering both serving and retired members. The policy lays down provisions for official vehicle use and security arrangements to strengthen judicial protection.
