The Sindh Education Department has clarified that no public holiday has been declared for Tuesday, dismissing rumors spreading on social media.
A spokesperson for the department said that a notification regarding the closure of colleges was “fabricated and lacked authenticity.” The official confirmed that all educational institutions across Sindh would remain open as usual.
The department stated that any decision regarding the closure of schools or colleges would only be taken in line with the prevailing situation.
The clarification followed the circulation of a fake notification on social media, which falsely claimed that all schools in Karachi would remain closed.
Heavy to moderate rain was reported in parts of Karachi on Monday evening. Weather forecasts had earlier warned of very heavy downpours and thunderstorms that could cause urban flooding in the city.
