Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Nawaz Sharif Centers of Eminence, a new network of public schools across the province.
The schools will provide free education to students whose parents earn less than Rs. 200,000 per month. Eligible families will not have to pay any school fee.
Maryam Nawaz reviewed the progress of the project during a high-level meeting. Officials informed her that more than 71,000 students had applied for admission to the 65 schools.
The large number of applications shows strong public interest in the new education initiative.
Officials said the Punjab government is developing the schools according to international education standards.
The campuses will include modern classrooms, advanced science laboratories and dedicated STEM facilities. Students will also have access to digital learning tools and innovative learning spaces.
In addition, the schools will offer sports facilities to support students’ physical development alongside their academic education.
The Punjab government aims to improve access to quality education through the Nawaz Sharif Centers of Eminence, particularly for families that cannot afford expensive private schools.
