Bangladesh Offers 500 Scholarships to Pakistani Students

Bangladesh has announced 500 fresh scholarships for outstanding Pakistani students as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.

The announcement came during a meeting in Lahore between Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Bangladesh’s Minister for Religious Affairs, Dr. Khalid Hussain. PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E. MD Iqbal Hussain Khan, were also present.

Maryam Nawaz commended Bangladesh’s advancements in the garment sector, microfinance, and women’s empowerment, describing them as crucial drivers of social progress. She expressed Punjab’s willingness to collaborate with Bangladesh in green energy, flood management, and sustainable agriculture, aiming to build a stronger regional partnership.

Nawaz Sharif emphasized the longstanding bond between the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh, recalling national hero MM Alam with pride. He praised Bangladesh’s economic achievements and dedication to public welfare, underscoring the importance of closer cooperation.

Dr. Khalid Hussain lauded the Nawaz family’s contributions, appreciated CM Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, and reaffirmed Dhaka’s commitment to deepening ties with Islamabad.

High Commissioner MD Iqbal Hussain Khan highlighted Nawaz Sharif’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s nuclear program and noted the admiration Bangladesh’s younger generation has for him. He also acknowledged Maryam Nawaz’s welfare projects, describing them as valuable for the people of Punjab.
