A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Mirage 5 ROSE III fighter aircraft crashed during a routine training sortie in Sargodha on Tuesday.
The aircraft was part of the 32nd Tactical Attack Wing’s No. 27 “Zarrars” Squadron. According to initial reports, the jet went down shortly after takeoff.
The pilot managed to eject safely and escaped without injury. Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact reason behind Tuesday’s crash.
The Mirage 5 ROSE III (Retrofit of Strike Element) is part of PAF’s modernized Mirage fleet, upgraded with advanced avionics and strike capabilities to extend the aircraft’s service life.
Despite being based on an older French design, the upgraded Mirages remain a vital component of the Air Force’s strike and reconnaissance missions.
