Xiaomi 16 ‘Pro Max’ Could Bring Back the Secondary Display

The Xiaomi 16 series is expected to debut in China next month, though the company has yet to confirm the official launch date or specifications. Ahead of the unveiling, leaked images have surfaced online, providing the first look at what could be one of the series’ most distinctive design elements.

The images, reportedly of the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max, show a redesigned horizontal rear camera module. The module features two vertically aligned sensors on the left and a third sensor with an LED flash positioned below. What stands out is the space that appears to house a secondary display, a feature previously seen on the Xiaomi 11 Ultra.

Copying iPhone?

The overall layout is strikingly similar to the rumored camera design of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro series. This has led to speculation that Xiaomi’s new design may either revive its own earlier secondary screen concept or copy the homework of Apple, something Xiaomi has also been known for.

While the leaked images suggest the inclusion of a secondary display, it remains uncertain whether the feature will return in production models. Leaks suggest that the design may be a placeholder or simply reflect similarities with the iPhone 17 Pro’s leaked layout.

With no official confirmation from Xiaomi, the status of the secondary display remains speculative. More details are expected once the company begins releasing teasers or formally announces the Xiaomi 16 series in the coming weeks.
